Born UK, 1979
Lowe graduated in 2004 from the Royal Academy with an MA in painting, working mostly in acrylic ink and taking inspiration from 16th century anatomical art and geometric constants. Her ‘Bloom Nasty’ series was completed during and after her time at the Royal Academy, and shown in 2004 at Riflemaker who represent her.
In 2006, Lowe collaborated with the writer Alasdair Gray on the installation ‘Terminus’, also at Riflemaker. The piece combined Lowe’s figurative paintings with a short story written by Gray especially for the exhibition, a ‘padded room’ examining man’s obsession with self-improvement and codes of conduct. Prizes Lowe has won include the Red Mansion Art Prize (2003) and the Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award for Fine Art (2004). She represented the UK in the Beijing Biennial 2008.
